Kohler Foundation, Inc

Long-term Partner, Preservation

The Kohler Foundation is world renowned for the conservation and preservation of grassroots art environments throughout the United States. The Kohler Foundation helped steward conservation and preservation of the M.T. Liggett Art Environment. Kohler was integral to building the visitors center and the artist residence that opened in October of 2021. The center includes several custom tools created by M.T. such as hammers, axes, tables, and fans; painted sheet metal, shelving, and other items were also salvaged from the original studio. The Visitors Center houses a restoration area and workshop to maintain the nearly 600 large totems and 500+ small hearts and art pieces.  Kohler has partnered with the M.T. Liggett Trust in the long term preservation of the collected works.
